in my opinion cunning people get respect but "manipulative" people ( when their manipulative personalities are exposed)receive the opposite.

Only in places wherein things need to get done, do nerds and geeks do well.
Everything else? Folks like Bu$h, McCain, Palin, etc.
Not always. If you go to a high school with intelligent kids, they eventually get over it and start to be decent to each other. Or at least that's how it worked at my high school.
