  • Cats seem to live about 3 or 4 years longer than dogs do. Since it's tied to people's lifespans, not quite.
  • No, and both "cat years" and "dog years" are simply ideas made to put in perspective how their age might correlate to a human's. Cats age roughly 5 times faster than we humans and dogs around 5-7 times faster, at least that's what i have gathered from other sources. Despite the slight difference in aging (again, from what i know) the first two years of both animals' lives are when a very good portion of the developing occurs. The type of breed also has an affect on the rapidity of development.
  • The answer is that it depends on the dog. The larger the dog, the shorter the natural lifespan. Very small dogs generally live about as long as cats, but larger dogs have much shorter lifespans. For a huge dog, ten years is old age. For a cat, it's about eighteen.
