All the pro's are saying it was instinctive. Not buying it. Cheat same as Maradona! The Irish now know how we felt in 86' +5

I used to like him, but this has tainted that. I hate cheating, including diving, hand ball etc. and think that some kind of action should be taken.

One paper is calling it the "Hand of Frog." Unlike Maradona he has not denied it. He said he "is not the referee." There wil always be mistakes made by referees. not sure what he should have done about it. It did not look like a premeditated action. Cricketers have been known to "walk" when a decision was dicey but they thought they should have been given "out"

That happensb when you close in on towards the goal post, though not so often.I don't think it was an intensional one. It's just a sort of reflex reaction. Certainly not the best way to push our Ireland from the finals, but the claim for a rematch is something that sounds impractical.Things should have been settled out there itself on the ground by some third party authority. With so many cameras around,it's just a shame that people still rely upon a referee who's prone to human errors. I don't consider it a job well done, but let by gones be by gones.

Damit I haven't got to see what happened and I caught the end of the protest remarks on ESPN today. Would really like to see what happened but from what I have heard it was a total Fuck -Up by the official.

Ah well. +5

It happens, Ireland had enough chances to win the match, and they shouldn't put their loss down to a bad decision when they didn't do enough to deserve to win.

Since it directly led to that ball being kept in play (let's face it, it was on it's way out of bounds and any official with a pair of eyeballs should have seen it)they ought to have at least allowed a rematch given the solid video evidence and the fact that FIFA has already set precedence previously regarding rematches. Then again, the officials were already asleep by not calling an offside on him just prior to the handball. The Irish got screwed on the field and later by FIFA. With all the money and prestige on the line these days in any international sport, you'd think FIFA would wake up and mandate video replays on questionable calls as other sports bodies have come to realize. Was the handball intentional? Isn't Henry a seasoned player? I could see that happening in a 5 year old's first match but a pro? I hope his team goes down in flaming ruins. They don't deserve to advance without a rematch.
