  • In my opinion, no. Lies are lies, no matter how mild or small they might be, they're still lies. They just aren't good to tell. Even if you want to tell the truth, but telling a white lie will make the situation easier, its still a lie that you're telling to the other person.
  • It depends on your value system. I like to be honest. However, honesty can be very cruel and damaging to the recipient. If you are grounded in Scriptures, you might want to quote "Do unto others......" For me, even though I like to be honest, I am not out to hurt someone. Every situation is different based on who you are dealing with and the damage that may be done. Justified? Well that sounds like a "stereotyped" phrase to me. White lies I believe do have their place.
  • Sometimes depends on the situation -
  • There would be only one reason to lie...and that is to defend the life of someone else...eg "Are there any Jews in your house?" "No" "Are you running the Underground Railway?" "No". Yet, even then, the lie is still a lie. It has to be repented of, afterwards. White lies? I don't think there are any. "white" indicates "harmless". If you lie, you will do harm "Tell him I'm not home" (you say to your child who answers the phone: you have now taught your child that deception is ok) "Santa Claus will not bring you presents if you are bad" (you have just taught your child that they can manipulate people to get what they want- they know the presents will be there, no matter their behaviour)....with a white lie, you are harming your reputation at the least, at the most you are leading another person into bad habits that continue a lifetime.
  • Not always
  • Only you can answer that for yourself Morals are every individuals making. For me personal, i dont mind lies as long as i can consciously live with it.
  • if I were sheltering jews during WWII and the NATZI's came to my door looking for jew's I do not think it would be wrong to lie and say 'I don't have any in my house'. In the above case everyone pretty much would agree protecting the jews would be a good cause. but there are other causes where others would disagree. so really I think it depends on the cause. like the 'prolife' people who think it is OK to kill a doctor who performs abortions could lie about who did it. but others who believe it is dispicable to kill anyone would think the cause is evil.
