  • I have never gone wrong with letting people go first. I let people state opinions first, ask certain questions first etc. I make myself an open book as well. Showing you're hiding something makes people hesitant.
  • Questions and expressing opinions are part of the give-and-take in a lively conversation. What matters is how this is done - there's a difference between being interested and being nosy. There are ways to state an opinion without being overbearing. It's about a pleasant demeanor and good manners - and a genuine interest in the other person.
