Dave Barry. He's done a lot of both political and non-political satire, mostly in his newspaper columns. I believe he's won the Pulitzer Prize at least once.
Here's an example of one of his political pieces:

Here's a non-political piece, on colonoscopies. I've actually used it to try and convince some patients to go get screened!

George Carlin was as good as they get.
George Carlin was one of the best ever. I do not need to ask for links because I have tons of his work on my Youtube playlists already.

I first started watching him when he was a Hippy Dippy Weatherman. I wish I could find some stuff with his partner (can't think of his name) in the early days. You couldn't help me there could you?

Do you mean this?
.
"initially a duo with partner Jack Burns. He first appeared on the Jack Paar- hosted ``The Tonight Show'' in October, 1960."
.
I cannot find anything from the original broadcasts but I found this:

Good one.
Has there been any of him with his partner? They did a segment on him on PBS either today or yesterday. That's when I found out he had a partner in his early days.

I have been putting off a colonoscooy... YIKES! Maybe it is time.
.
Oh, excellent summary of 2008. Have read part and, after I get done scaring the crap out of myself and laughing with his colonoscopy piece, am going to finish reading that.

"There are times when you wish the commode had a seat belt"

Now THAT made me laugh out loud.

My favorite line was: "I was a fraud, a hypocrite, a liar. I was practically a member of Congress." :-)

Dave Barry has been a light when most other lights went out. Some of the few good memories I have with my dad were reading Dave Barry.
