  • Yes, I do. I've also been told by my friends that I'm very empathetic (too much so, actually).
  • I'm empathetic but not sympathetic. Sympathy can be found between Shi* and Syphilis in the dictionary. Emapathy, on the other hand can be supportive and understanding, without babying.
  • To a point. I don't like a pitty party. If you need to talk about it yes I will be there for you and do what I can, but if all you want to do is whine then NO I am not the person for you.
  • I talk to my therapist a bit about this. I think the internet has cultivated my ability to be empathetic. I've read and seen so many things on the internet, about how people react to situations. It's shocking how much one can learn from the internet. Answerbag does a bit of this too in my mind. I can see the different opinions of issues and try to be empathetic about the situations that such and such are going through and why they would be asking such questions. I posed the question because I was thinking about death. I was moved by the fact that I was in a car alone with two people realizing that their mother in law / grandmother was dying. I have never actually felt the impact of a death on me except when I went to a memorial for my grandfather. When everyone is crying and they're going on with bible verses it was too much to take. I had never met the guy truly, because for years my mother sheltered me from them. I just wondered how many people really think about themselves in relation to being empathetic.
  • Yes, to the point where just by standing in a group of people, I can actually feel every one else's feelings. In crowds it can be quite overwhelming.
  • yes.... its a trait I'm just aknowledging.. I spend much of my life blocking out so much..(conditioned childhood defense that I brought into adulthood) now I am just letting it all in.. getting to understand myself...I can look back though on my failed marriage and clearly see how I was affected by his emotions unconscineously..
  • i'm trying to be, yes.
  • No, it bugs me that I don't.
  • Why sure I do!
