What would be a great topic for a research paper for my English class? Persuasiveness is required. ex. abortion, death penalty, etc.

I am tackling the same assignment! We have been told to make sure it is something that is not too close to our own emotions, as that would hinder our ability to write unbiased. And for it to be quality persuasive, it has to be objective so that our arguments do not turn out to be nuthing more than a personal attack of the opposition. Some topics that are being used in my class are: paranormal topics such as the reality of ghosts or ufos, current events or political issues such as gay marraige,mandatory recycling or immunizations,the death penalty, cell phone usage while driving,immigration laws, helmet laws, and medical topics such as immunization leading to autism, or why either breast feeding or bottle feeding is better than the other.
