You're reading I have a 93 cevy s10 blazer(6cyl) w 180,000 miles. Has been running good, over all good cond. yesterday noticed the oil gage showing low. Added oil but it now seems to be running rough now and has a slight knocking noise.
Comments
A spun rod bearing will create more than a simple knocking sound. The crankshaft turns too fast to produce a simple knock. This is more likely a collapsed lifter. Since the valve train spins at half the speed of the crankshaft, a discernable knocking can be heard. It may still be time for a rebuild though, if this is happening due to running low on oil.

Yeah, my father in law killed my old Toyota this way. He didn't believe in oil changes; they are a conspiracy by the "ragheads" to make us buy more oil. He wound up driving it with a progressively worsening knock that could be heard two blocks away. One day, the thing grenaded on the highway. Metal and oil EVERYWHERE. Fix it soon and you might still save it.
