  • You will need strong thread (Linen is good) Leave it on the reel and take a stitch through the place you want the belt loop to start. Tie a strong knot but leave a couple inch tail on the thread. With tail end, sew back into same area and make a loop.Do not fasten this loop. Grab a small crochet hook or if you don't have one use your hands. Put the hook through the loop you just made and hook another loop from the reel end of the thread through the first one.Now tighten the (tail end) loop you started with and tie the end off. You then continue hooking loops through making a chain the length that you want your belt loop to be.Cut the reel end of the thread long enough to sew to dress and pull through last loop.Sew this end securely to where you want this end of the belt loop. Then attach another length of thread to the start and you sew like blanket stitch along the length of chain to re-inforce it. Keep the stitches small and close together. Fasten off when you get back to where you started. I hope this is clear enough for you. Good luck.
