It's all about the trimming -- perhaps you are overtrimming.

Because its meant to be, take it out of its bonsai pot, put in a big one and it will grow if thats what you really want. Japanese art of miniaturising trees is very ancient, +5

Because you probably paid very little for it. If you want a much bigger one, it will cost you a lot of money, for it takes years for them to grow. I know. I had to buy a tiny one also because I didn't want to spend $175.00 on a bigger one.
