Except for "Hate Crime Legislation" do you normally feel immune to any increase in penalty the law may impose because "YOU" are a law abiding citizen?

I feel like that in a way, because regardless how much the fine or "jail time" penalty is for shoplifting, I'll never end up paying it, because I have no plans to do any shoplifting (unless the owner (or employees) of a store is/are rude to me; that's how I "get even").

I never get angry, but I always get even.
