I tried both .. latest FF sucks and latest IE also sucks.

So, I've used Opera for years now.

I prefer Firefox, but it hasn't been performing well lately (don't know why) so I've been using Internet Explorer.

Generally speaking I would say that Firefox is far superior to IE because of its add-ons like AdBlock Plus, which prevents ads from displaying.

However, since I downloaded the latest version a week ago it isn't working properly, so I have tried Safari, Chrome and Opera before switching back to IE.

I'm hoping to resolve the Firefox problems because I far prefer it to IE or any of the others.

I prefer Firefox by a large margin.

For a long time, Firefox was way ahead of Internet Explorer in features -- Microsoft just wasn't spending the effort to catch up. But now, they're much closer, and there are even a few spots where IE is ahead in features.

But the main advantage that Firefox has that Microsoft simply cannot match is that Firefox has a vast array of "add on" components available -- little bits of software created by individuals and small groups or companies which extend the capabilities of the browser. The user (that's you!) can mix and match at will, these extensions are free, and it's quite normal for a Firefox user to be essentially addicted to their favorite add-ons.

One of the most popular, for example, is "Adblock", which blocks advertising elements on web pages from being displayed. You know all those flashing / animated / space -hogging graphics that clutter up so many sites and make it hard to see the content? Gone. FF users with Adblock simply don't see them.

That's just one of thousands of tools for FF. Microsoft can't match it, because they don't have the "community support" that FF has.
