Is there a chance that if it takes 4yrs for doctors to come up with a answer it can be wrong?

yes - they are only human so they can and do make mistakes at times

Of course, there is always the chance that they are wrong. We can't know anything is 100% certain, we can make it almost sure and if the treatment works then we can assume we were correct in our assumption. Although there is the chance that the treatment worked on something different than we thought and still worked. Medicine is always advancing and finding out new things. We will never know everything.
