The head-teacher cannot alone make that decision.

I love uniforms as long as they look nice.. I go to a prep school and we have uniforms, and though people might think uniforms put a limit on your 'individuality,' well.. I guess individuality can't really be defined just by the clothes you wear, right?

I loved wearing a uniform. It was so much better than when I didn't wear one. I would easily choose to wear one over not wearing one any day.

From a parental point of view there is a financial benefit for putting a uniform in place. After the initial outlay for the uniform there is no 'keeping up with the joneses' in terms of fashion and peer pressure. From a teenager's point of view (I do remember what it was like, we had a uniform in our sixth form) I hated being told what to wear at an age when I was on the verge of adulthood and autonomy. We had a meeting with the school governers as a sixth form pressure group and it was eventually agreed we'd wear clothes of a certain colour. We chose brown to cream. We could wear whatever we wanted, within the bounds of decency, as long as it was in that colour palette. We all thought it was a winner.
