For much the same reason Iran should be afraid of Ahminajad. There is something about a ruthless barracuda minded person running the show that scares most normal folks.

I am not afraid of Sarah Palin, because I think she has no chance of being elected. The appeals only to the Republican core, whose votes are lost to Democrats anyway. The best thing for the Democrats would be fir her to be nominated, because the swing votes would fly away from her.

She is an anti-intellectual, voluntary Know-Nothing who relies on simplistic arguments for complex issues. She would probably let her fundamentalist beliefs affect her decisions as President. We saw exactly what this led to with George Bush in the fiascos in Iraq & Afghanistan, so I'm astonished that with her as VP candidate for an old guy running mate, they got as many votes as they did.

The liberals aren't afraid of her. They're rooting for her. If she gets the Republican nomination in 2012 (maybe with Rush Limbaugh as running mate), Obama stands to be re-elected by the biggest landslide in US history. +4
