Are there any home remedies for ingrown toenails that will also relieve the pain?

I have had some luck cutting a "V" into the center of the nail of my big toe.

Yes, see a Podiatrist and have him take care of it, otherwise it will get worse.

I just removed one myself. Lots of screaming and blood. Not something I would recommend if you can afford a doctor at all. Edit: did my own. It was caused in part, I think, from the swelling in my foot associated with my recent broken leg. Occured after case was closed, so I did it myself. NOT fun.

i have had one "cut out" by a doctor three years ago but they keep coming back so since i dont have insurance anymore i cut it out my self. if your have tweezers you can lightly dig under the ingrown and slowly and patiently pull it out. it will hurt but not to bad.
