-
I personally think that okra is GROSS
-
i like fried okra but i find pickled okra disgusting.
-
Okra is delicious when it is battered and fried, but I do not care for it when it is in it's "slimy" state such as in soups. I am growing some in my garden this year.
-
Fried not so bad.
-
Fried, in soups, on salad, pickled, or alone I find it delicious. The okra is heavenly.

Firstly here in Fiji a lot of us love it. Firstly when you get it don't wash it. Wipe it with a paper towel and cut it in circles very thin. cut some onions with garlic ( pound)with some chilly to taste. Put a bit of oil ( quite a bit) , when hot, put in onions, chilly and when brown put garlic and then put in the okra. Let it cook in low heat. Do not put in any water. Cook for 8-10 minutes and eat with rice. It won't bw slimy. ( the trick is no water and a bit more oil and you may drain the oil out)

I make one of the best deep fried Okra the Deep South has ever tasted and I'm a Yankee. Go figure I'd be eating Okra, fried chicken and Collards and sing their praises. I learned what the good food is.

Okra is good when prepared a certain way. I love it in Bamya. It's not called that in America but it's just okra and tomato stew with meat, but you can make it without. My Grandma makes it really good.

Yes, I know what okra is. It is awesome, so long as it isn't cooked in a typical American way (boiled, battered and deep-fried, etc). Why do we (Americans) insist on trying to make vegetables taste like crap???
-
I am from the south, so I was brought up with fried okra. Love it! Boiled or pickled okra is kinda gross tho. Don't care for slimey foods!
-
Yes and I love it
-
okra is good in gumbo and that's about it.
-
Okra is a very tasty vegetable. I like it boiled or fried.

Okra seems to be an acquired taste. I grew up eating okra and absolutely love it...other people about up-chuck at the mere mention of okra. I am not overly fond of breaded and fried okra, although it's a real staple in the south. I slice the okra, saute it with some chopped bacon long enough for the "slime" to disappear, and add either fresh or canned tomatoes, salt, pepper, chopped onions and garlic. Very good and tasty. Also, pickled okra is absolutely fantastic! You can buy pickled okra in grocery stores if you want to try it out before making some.
-
Honestly, the only way I can eat it is in Campbell's Chicken Gumbo soup.
-
i love it breaded and fried +5

I didn't know okra until I moved to the south, which is where I ran into pickled eggs, red beer, fried pickles and okra. Now I enjoy pickled or fried okra. In its natural state it can be a little slimy. The south introduced me to a lot of things like this; o

I like The Okra Winfrey Show. Does this count?
