  • The universe is expanding at a very high speed. Somewhere close to the velocity of light but it sure won't go anywhere faster than that. The harder question to ask is in a recent question, "What space is the universe filling up as it expands?"
  • The speed of expansion depends on the distance over which you measure it. The rate of expansion has recently been measured accurately at 71±4 (km/s)/Mpc. That's comes to about 73 parts extra in a trillion per year. Too small to even measure over Earthly distances. Over huge cosmological distances, it all adds up though.
