Definately not. classical musicians are the inventors of music theory. studying classical can teach you alot about making music, or making music better. listen to some classical and then listen to one of these motherloving emo bands who play the same goddamn note for like two full measures and tell me how each one makes you feel. not which one you like more. I hate classical music. but i want to learn about music and develope an appreciation for all types so i listen to it anyway.

I dont think so, classical music is a base for all, if you are good at classical you can pick up any kind of music, its more tha music, its theory and practise that you have to do, it gives you a solid base. even I am learning classical guitar that really trains me in every aspect or playing music.

I'm neither old nor nerdy. I love, but am selective as always, Classical Music. I am nearly an expert on this category. I appreciate all genres albeit some more than othres, but I have deep rooted favorites within the classics. I have nearly all the best ever classical songs burnt to my computer. I have a wide appreciation for music of other culters which 95% of you have never heard of before.

Not since a girlfriend showed me how someone like Yngwie Malmsteen rips off Bach. I find I can listen to certain classical CD's, not all of it.
