Only if you're not used to eating raw meats and if it has some weird bacteria, viruses, etc. on it ><

It depends. If you use quality ingredients, prepare the steak in a sanitary kitchen, and have a moderately healthy immune system then you will be fine. I have eaten RAW steak (Steak Tartare) on several occasions with ZERO problems. If you use cheap meat, or the cook doesn't have clean hands and a cleaner kitchen, then it doesn't matter if it's cooked or not; you're going to be at risk. And if you are one of those paranoid types like my mother-in-law who overcooks EVERYTHING then likely have an immune system that has atrophied to where you'll get sick from touching the silverware.

there is this insane misconception that for whatever reason comes along with class status for some reason, that all meat must be practically burnt to a crisp when cooking it, or it'll be flooded with bacteria that will make you painfully sick. you know whatelse could have bacteria on it that could make sick.....the plate you're eating it off of, along with the beverage you're drinking with it. eating a rare steak is fine, if everyone got sick from it, it wouldn't be available on the menu, plus the longer you cook it, the less juicy it becomes. this misconception also seems to go along the lines of people refusing to eat sushi, because (about 15% of the variety you can order) is raw. is all from the news and the fear put in us about everything we are eating is unhealthy, yet mcdonalds is still the number one chain restaurant, and i don't think anyone knows whats in that stuff

If it is cooked to 120 degress it kills all bacteria on the surface. They can't penetrate the meat, and stay on the surface only. Steak is safe at rare. Ground meat needs to be cooked a little higher, as the bacteria are ground all through. It needs to be like 140, to be 100% safe, but is still ok at 120, just has a chance of making you sick, but only if ground.

I would say you could..Meat, all meat is supposed to be cooked well. Maybe some people might be lucky, but I wouldn't eat it.
-
It can, but probably won't. As long as the cook is expirienced enough to cook it properly and check the temperature before serving the meat than it should be fine.
-
Possibly but not for sure. There is meat out there that is still safe to eat raw, though you usually have to grow it yourself. But people eat near raw or blue steak all the time and it is very rare (pun intended) that people get sick from it.

As long as it's not measly beef (infected with the cysticerci of Taenia saginata [beef tapeworm]), you should be fine. Muscle is very dense and very impermeable to things such as bacteria. For this reason steaks are commonly eaten rare with little to no risk of infection (this does not apply to ground beef mind you). The only way I know that you MAY get sick due to bacteria is to puncture the surface of the steak, thus allowing the surface bacteria (which normally are killed by the cooking) to become internal.
