Grootendorst Supreme is an older variety of rose--a Rugosa, or shrub rose. Besides being appealing to connoisseurs of old roses, Grootendorst roses produce abundant bloom, will grow in somewhat poor soil and light shade, and are vigorous growers. Their small, double flowers and bushy habit make them ideal for borders, hedges and containers.
On the Other: This Rose Can Occasionally Be Susceptible
Although Grootendorst Supreme is resistant to many diseases of roses, it is not resistant to some common threats, such as black spot and powdery mildew. It is also susceptible to a number of insects, including aphids, spider mites, midges and slugs. Some growers recommended that these roses not be sprayed for diseases or pests.
