Once used only with information kiosks and self-service information stations, touchscreens are becoming wildly popular and even more beneficial than ever. Now smartphones, GPS units, ATMs and even thermostats use them to their benefit.
Function
A touchscreen allows a person to access or input information quickly and accurately by touching a pressurized on-screen interface system.
Smartphones
Smartphones that use capacitive touchscreens benefit because of faster and more accurate texting and emailing. Capacitive types are tougher and withstand repeated touches.
GPS
Faster programming and more accurate destination input are benefits of the GPS with a touchscreen as well
ATM
Touchscreens are most beneficial because they make self-service a breeze. ATMs are strictly self-service and incorporate touchscreens for faster operation. The higher durability of touchscreens means there are no buttons to break, possibly saving money in the future
Thermostats
Thermostats with touchscreens are easier to use because of the digital display, and programming the thermostat is faster too.
Kiosk
The original device using touchscreens, information kiosks are always self-service and allow the customer to find the information they need quickly without waiting for someone to help them.
