    Great Answer

    Professionally Researched. (What's this?)

On One Hand: 75Hz Is Good Per Eye Channel in Shutter Glasses

The alternate frame sequencing used in 3D shutter glasses allocates half the total hertz output (the number of complete cycles per second) to each eye channel. So a refresh rate of 75Hz per eye channel is good for smooth, strobeless 3D viewing.

On the Other: A Total of 75Hz Is Insufficient in Shutter Glasses

Strobeless viewing with 3D shutter glasses requires a minimum of 120Hz, with 60Hz going to the left eye channel and 60Hz going to the right eye channel. A total of 75Hz in shutter glasses would not be a high enough refresh rate to prevent strobing.

    Bottom Line

Because of alternate frame sequencing, the minimum 3D shutter glasses refresh rate is 60Hz per eye channel, which is a total of 120Hz. 75Hz in shutter glass must be per eye channel, with a total of 150Hz, to make for good 3D viewing.
