  • When it comes to renewing your passport, the earlier you get the process started, the better. While it is possible to get a passport renewed very quickly in New York, it will require a trip to the New York Passport Agency in New York City. For those who cannot renew their passports by mail, Passport Application Acceptance Facilities are conveniently located throughout the state.

    Renew Your Passport by Mail

    The easiest way to renew your passport in New York, or in any state, is by mail. You can renew your passport by mail provided that it is undamaged, it was issued when you were 16 years old or older, it is no more than 15 years old and your name is unchanged or you can legally document a name change.     Passport Application Acceptance Facility

    If you cannot renew your passport by mail, and you don't plan any foreign travel within 14 days, you must go to a Passport Application Acceptance Facility.     Visit the New York Passport Agency

    If you are traveling to a foreign country within 14 days or you need a foreign visa within four weeks, you must visit the New York Passport Agency, located in New York City.
