Radiator fluid is an essential component in your car. It needs to be checked regularly and changed occasionally or you may find yourself stuck at the side of the road. Radiator fluid is the term that refers to the antifreeze and water mixture used in your car's radiator. This is essential to keeping your car running. The purpose of radiator fluid is to keep your car engine from overheating as it runs and keep the engine from freezing in winter. There are three main types of radiator fluid used today: ethylene glycol, propylene glycol and extended-life coolant. Ethylene glycol is the most common in more southern areas and is mixed 50/50 with water. Propylene glycol and extended-life coolant are used in areas with harsher winters and are usually mixed 70/30 with water. Your radiator is what keeps your car engine from having a literal meltdown. Radiator fluid that has traveled through the engine is pumped through the tubes of the radiator and is cooled off before being recirculated for another round. Radiator fluid is essential to keep your vehicle running. If in doubt, talk to your mechanic. A bottle of antifreeze/coolant is much cheaper than a new engine.Definintion
