The abbreviation GT stands for grand tourer and refers to cars that are made to travel long distances. GT cars are usually two-door coupes.
Translation
Grand Tourers are also referred to as Grand Turismos. "Grand tourer" translates to "gran turismo" in Italian.

Types
Most major auto companies manufacture some sort of GT automobile. Nissan sells the 2010 GT Nissan GT-R, Ford sells the Mustang GT and Toyota sells the Toyota GT Turbo.
Packages
Many cars are available with an optional GT package that adds features and equipment. For example, the 2010 Honda Civic has an available GT package that adds features like painted bumpers and chrome door handles.
