  • It is possible to choose and delete only certain cookies from your system. This is a good way to learn what websites you visit might be dropping unwanted cookies on your computer.

    Deleting Certain Cookies

The process of deleting certain cookies will differ slightly depending on which browser you are using, but the same basic ideas apply. Each time you visit a website, a cookie is deposited through your browser and stored in a special file. The fastest and best way to get there is through the browser interface. For Mozilla Firefox the steps are as follows: Go to "Tools" on the top menu bar Then click "Options." Go to the "Privacy" tab and click on it. Then you will see a tab that says "Show Cookies." Click that and you will then see the list of cookies you have accumulated since they were last deleted. Scroll through the list and highlight the cookies you want to remove and click "remove cookie." In Internet Explorer the process is similar. You will start the same way by going to the "Tools" tab on the upper right-hand side. Then go to "Internet Options" and click. You will then see a tab that says "Browsing History," click on that and you will see a button that says "Settings," click on that and then the "View Files" tab will be available. You can now see all the cookies in the file. Find the cookie you want and delete it. If you are unsure of the identity of a specific cookie you can type the name in Google and get the information on where the cookie is from. If the lists are too long to find a specific cookie, you can just choose to delete them all. This is a wise practice since too many cookies can slow your computer down.
