  • Erasing all of the aspects of Web history used to be a difficult task. The history could easily be erased, but web address bar history wasn't as simple. This was until recent versions of Internet Explorer were released. New and improved versions of Internet Explorer give you the option to erase whatever aspect of the history you desire. You can erase it all, or just the address bar history without loosing everything.

Erasing in Internet Explorer on a PC

When it comes to Internet Explorer, there are a couple of ways you can erase the address bar history. Open the Internet Explorer browser, and go to the "Tools" tab in the upper-left menu of the browser window. Click on the "Delete Browsing History" option, which will be listed as the first option in the Tools drop down menu. (You can also press and hold down "CTRL" + "SHIFT" + "DEL" on your keyboard.) When the pop-up "Delete Browsing History" window appears, uncheck all of the boxes, except the one that reads, "Form Data." The Form Data option enables you to remove any information that has been entered into data forms in your Internet browser. Address bar history is categorized as form data in Internet Explorer.

Erasing in FireFox on a Mac

FireFox on a Mac operating system is quite different from the navigation on a PC. But it is just as simple, once you've gotten the hang of it. Erasing the address bar history in FireFox calls for a different method. You'll need to open open the FireFox browser. It's icon link can easily be found, as it is located on your desktop. Go to the address bar's drop down arrow, and highlight the address you want to delete from the list. Do not click on the address, because this action will redirect you to that particular site. Press and hold the "SHIFT" + "DEL" keys on your computer's keyboard. When you release the keys, the address will be removed from the list. You can then opt to close the browser and restart it to ensure the update has been permanently applied to the browser.
