Running fewer programs, protecting your computer with antivirus software, turning off features of Aero and using the Task Manager to end unnecessary processes can reduce CPU usage.
Dangers
When a CPU runs near its maximum usage, it generates more heat, which can result in crashing, lag and possibly damage to hardware.
