It could be looked at that way if you felt that your job was holding you back from doing something you really wanted to do! sometimes people are to scared to quite because they would regret it if their dream job didn't turn out so well.

A long time ago, it got me out of a dead end low paying job into a great new career. If I hadn't been "let go" I would probably still be working there!

It could help you re-evaluate what you really want to do with your life or career. I have a medical condition that caused me not to be able to work. It helped me find God (how cliche eh? LOL) and my path to caring for children and writing poetry. Before that I was an administrator. I loved my work, but I love caring for children more. And my poetry is getting pretty good.
