It depends on the girl, length can be an issue with some girls because it can hit the back of their cervix and hurt them. Women who have had children tend to prefer a bigger girth because they have been stretched out. Virgins tend to prefer less girth because it tends to hurt the first few times to be stretched out.
Yes men are insecure about their penis size, even when a woman says it's perfect. The average size is between 5 to 6 inches hard. Some like it shorter so it hits the G-Spot which is 2 to 3 inches inside the vagina. So even shorter guys can make the grade, sometimes with fantastic results.

guys are extremely insecure about their penis size. but this breaks down roughly into 2 categories:

1. young guys who aren't sure where they stand in the size chain.

2. Older guys who either know or don't care how they compare to other men, but still secretly hope that theirs is the biggest one you've ever seen.

I'm in the latter, i wouldn't be embarrassed to walk around naked in front of strange women [in theory], but I still hope that mine is the biggest one my GF has ever had ;)
