I havent seen it in a while but, when I watched it 20 years ago it scared the Crap out of me.
-
I dont know about scariest ever. But pretty damn creepy!!:)
-
No, but I respect your opinion. I'm more a fan of the original "Texas Chainsaw Massacre"...but to each his (or her) own! :)
-
It was scary in it's day ... BUT; I do believe that other movies have came out that are more "Scarier" . Again; "SCARY" is subjective ... what is scary to YOU; might not be too scary to me .. However; I do agree that it was / is a darn good scary movie ... +5

Being in a catholic elementary school at the time Oh yes.....
-

It was the creepy, but the scariest for me was Alfred Hitchcock movies, The Birds and Psycho. For years I hated taking long showers. And as for the Birds, whenever I see crows in a large group, I still get the creeps. I've met a lot of people over the years who felt the same way about both.

absolutely! amazing movie! definitely one of scariest ever made... not to mention disturbing. remember the bloody crucifix part?
-
The Exorcist was scary for sure but I don't think any movie ever scared me like Psycho did.
-
Absolutely. I would call The Evil Dead (1982) a very close second. Those are the only movies that still give me an eerie feeling when I watch them alone at night.
-
Not for me, the Saw movies freaked me out much more.
-
Absolutely. It has been part of my life! I saw it in the 70's as an underage teenager, paid a small fortune for it on video in the early 80's and now have the DVD. It gets me every time (I'm not keen on the "other" version - Freidkin's re-edit, though)
-
I sure do agree! Still gives me the ebee gee bees.
-
Perhaps it is the scariest movie of its time, I don't agree that it is the scariest movie ever made. It doesn't scare me.
-
no the scariest movie ever is The Shining, brrrr
-
At the time it was made, it probably was the scariest movie I had ever seen.
-
Not really. Maybe it's because I don't come from that generation, but the movie is fairly old, and physically seems comedic to me. As well, the concept of it, in my opinion is nowhere near plausible, so it doesn't have that to make up for the near comedic value of peas soup vomit and crucifix sex. However it is still an awesome classic, and I totally enjoy it. But the scariest ever? Nah.
-
yes! i saw that one as a kid
-
No, I think Amityville horror was scarier.
-
Sorry but not even close. The Shining is easily scarier.
-
I would agree .. I had lots of nightmares about that!!
-
To my knowlege, it's the only movie I know of that filmed an actual death, so in that way, it brings out my spiritual side. I feel a natural reverence for it that I don't feel for other movies. +5

Without a doubt!
-
Back in 1970's yes that was scary.
-
Id have to say , for me , it was, I was so scared after that movie I couldn't sleep properly for weeks, and to be honest, I dont really watch scary movies now........
-
My own choices for that title are: Nosferatu -- the great silent film. The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari -- another unforgettable silent. The first three Omen movies. The Black Cat -- visually stunning, an intelligent script, and wonderful, subtle performances by Karloff and Lugosi. And speaking of Lugosi, his version of Dracula.

Hmm no I wouldnt say so... I dont really get scared by films, but I dont think the Exorcist is the scariest, maybe something like Nightmare on Elm St, or Halloween!
