Yes, many interstates in the US are so well constructed and have three or even four lanes for slower, faster, and passing that the speed limit could well be increased to allow a smoother flow of traffic over long distances. The speed limits on most cannot really be enforced anyway.

Here in the UK the motorway speed limit is 70mph,for the purposes of convictions by speed cameras you are usually allowed +10%+1 therefore you would normally get away with 78mph,but in reality if your driving well up to 90mph you will not get stopped for it,you will get clocked on the cameras though. You do not exceed 100mph though ,that's an automatic ban for a minimum of 1 year. I think this is adequate,if they were to impose the limit rigidly then the motorways of the UK would come to a standstill. My son deals with companies from all over the world and he will picks up from Heathrow and the Americans and Australians deem it a 80mile white knuckle ride,to his base on our motorways.
