Help answer this question below.

I have a 2001 monte carlo, hot coolant temp warning comes on, the car overheats, but the bottom radiator hose is cold and the upper hose is hot. Anyone know whats wrong

    Sounds like the radiator may be plugged.
    If you disconnect hoses (with the engine off) will water run from the upper inlet to the lower outlet?

    Sounds like you thermostat. I would just get a new one and replace it. It's easy to do.

    Try looking at your thermostat first you can take it out and put in a pan wait and see if it opens up if so then it is okay if not this can be part of the issue
