I am guessing that Bristol paper is a heavier stock than normal paper. Not all but almost all printers have a way of handling heavy stock (envelopes for example) This can be a small lever in where you install the ink cartridges or on many newer printers it handles it automatically. Platens and ink head are spring loaded to accept different thicknesses.
Check your manual for you machine... but if you do jam remember to gently pull the paper out of the printer.
it really depends on the printer you have, some are fickle
