I have a bunch of acquaintances that have a boat load of $$. They buy things, but they are not $ oriented. They do have a lot of things that I would not buy.

My best friend started a business and eventually sold it for $35 million. He doesn't live a miserly life, but he definitely has his feet on the ground and invests carefully to preserve his fortune.

I know 2 rich people. One of them is sensible and lives well but not ostentatiously. The other buys whatever strikes his fancy and uses it once and discards it.

I only knew one person I would classify as being rich. His feet were firmly planted on the ground. You would never know he was wealthy by his appearance.

The ones I know don't spend much at all. They only buy what they need. Their homes are in good repair but they take a packed lunch to work and they have investments for their retirement. They definitely have their feet on the ground.

The two families I know best have they're feet firmly planted. They both have very nice expensive homes but they don't live a lavish life. They have very modest cars & both of them buy only sale & off brand items when available.

I know a few that are kind of rolling in it; but you would never know it because they're very conservative and don't spend more than they need. They also donate a lot. Then I know several who used to be rolling in it and have blown through a good portion of it.
