I think its a good idea to live with someone before making such a huge commintment as marraige. I lived with my boyfriend for six years becasuse it was ideal for both of us financially. This arrangement also helped us determine if we would be suitable as partners in marriage. We felt we are so now we'll be getting married next year.

I don't think so, if you are looking for a fully committed/forever type relationship with one person. Just living together isn't making a contract with someone else that you will be there for them no matter what in a binding way. People work harder when it's not as easy to walk out and a marriage vow between two people can be very strengthening and help them feel secure and trusted in a way that living together doesn't.
