My best friend Wendy died when we were 17 after nearly 2 full years of battling Lukemia. In 9th grade, we sat together (like we had since 4th grade) and she'd missed a couple of days of school. The teacher pulled me aside at the end of class to say she wouldn't be returning to school and I ought to go talk to her family about it.
