  • They could, Mr., but it is a matter of where they can go from their entry point. Their target is the lungs. Hard to get to the lungs from the ears...or the...toenails. Viruses can survive for a short time in the eyes...a very short time. But, when people rub their eyes, they can then touch other parts of the face,..the nose and mouth...etc. See what I mean? That is why the docs in the know say not to touch the face when you are out in public and sanitize your hands often. Smokers are at greater risk, not because they have weaker lungs or immune systems but because they are always touching the mouth and face. The hands can harbor viruses from door knobs and a multitude of other objects. Keep your hands clean, carry sanitary wipes and liquids, and keep your hands off your face! I even wear a mask when I have to go to a store. I always get the shot...and I can't remember when I last had the "flu". It has been years.
  • they can... however it is far more common of them to enter and thrive in the moist areas of the body (ones that are commonly exposed at least lol) like your eyes mouth and nose. bacteria love dark warm moist places
