  • Certainly not. Polite behavior is the recognition that other humans have the same rights you do. Without this basic recognition, one treats others as lesser beings, not deserving of personal dignity.
  • quite the contrary, see it as a strength and character in a person! +5
  • Sometimes I see it as a weakness in myself, it does hold me back sometimes.
  • It's a strength. My mother always told me that being polite isn't for the other person, it's for ME.
  • Only in the last 20yrs. have I seen a lack of manners among the general public. Before that it was common practice. It's just my theory but when the law was passed that disciplined children became child abuse the kids sort of got away with murder. Now their parents are as much to blame as the kids are for their rude and impolite manners. So, how do we fix this?. I am still polite in all my encounters, such as holding a door open for the person in front or behind me as an example. I am only polite until a person becomes confrontational, I'm not a push over.
  • no-however false politeness spewed about-demeans it
  • No I see politeness as strength.
  • you show me someone who sees politeness as a weakness and ill show you a fool.
  • Nope! not me! :-)
  • Hardly, being polite and well mannered has opened a lot of doors of opportunity for me. :) +5
  • Quite the opposite. It's a strength to be polite to someone you dislike or when your attention is being diverted or you're especially busy....
  • Quite the contrary. Weakness is exhibited by people who lack common courtesy, honesty, civility and kindness. Being polite is a strength, not a weakness. Being impolite shows a great lack of character, which is a definite weakness to me.
  • I believe politeness is a necessity. Of course being polite does not mean agreeing with everything others might say or think simply to avoid misunderstanding or hard feelings.
