Nah, they have their own places to interact! There are a few mindblowingly intelligent people here, I just feel sorry for them having to put up with my frequent stupid comments!
-
Well, like 'Trudy Weigel' shared on Reno 911!, "Put it this way - - I once failed a test to join a Book Club." I, too, might not pass the test to join in. AB seems OK as is. :) +5

We all are smart about some things and pretty ignorant/unsmart about some things....geniuses as well as us ordinary folks. So High IQ means zero in a social forum or in life, really. I know a couple of geniuses and you would never guess talking to them that they are way smarter than most people. Why? Because they never talk down to you. If people "assert" IQ credentials, they have already shown me how ignorant they really are and I'm not impressed. It isn't what you know or your potential that matters...it's how you treat other people. I know you know that my friend! :)A High IQ anything would keep me away. I like INCLUSIVE, not exclusive as you well know. Anything formed for such purposes is not for me!
-
Definitely not! I would feel so lonely here all by myself. :)
-
I haven't found better answers, clearer reasoning, or more useful information from people of greater IQ anywhere in life, so I wouldn't expect it to make AB better. High IQ is just one part of a complex, rich population of interesting people. I never want to limit myself as to the 'knowledge pool'.
-
Hell, no. In actuality, that's what the Educational and Conversational tags are for. But I've found that there are many questions that can actually fit easily into both. And I've also found that many of the answerers here are experienced, wise, enjoyable, compassionate, non-judgmental, and easy-to-get-along-with. Why mess with a good thing? Oh, yeah... And even those with high intelligence need a laugh now and then, don't they?
-
I don't see how IQ could alter a person's ability to share their experience, expertise, reason, or opinions. +5
-
i wonder why you ask such a question but i will answer because you are a friend. answerbag is for everyone and i am glad. +5

No, all of the people with High IQ would get bored. Many common sense questions are best answered by people of ordinary intelligence. Some(not all) people with high IQ's lack ordinary common sense. Filled their minds with lots of facts and learning they received in books, yet missed a lot of the things the books just don't teach you.
-
There would be nobody here if that was the case. XD
-
IQ, when joined with a large body of specific knowledge and harnessed to a purpose, is an awesome thing. . Otherwise it's sort of like an impotent guy with a really big package: technically impressive but not really functional. . Most of the things that get done in this world are done by people of average intelligence. Most leaders have average intelligence. . Speaking of packages, people often say 'it's not what you got, it's what you do with it'. I don't know how true that is of male genitalia but it is entirely true of brains.

I tend to meet quite a few people on AB who should not even be allowed anywhere near a computer. Maybe there should be some entry level intelligence test before letting people subscribe to the website.
-
Its not about the the IQ its about the I Can
-
Suby..I would rather have a person with no IQ who is pleasant than one who has a high IQ and is rude and disrepectful.. It matters none how big an IQ is..nobody knows *everything*..the whole point of this site to to ask and answer question, in doing so we allow ourselves to both help others and to learn..some people do tend to forget that :D
-
I am not of ordinary intelligence and neither are you. There is no way to measure. Just because someone can pass an engineering test does not make him master of the spoken word. Just because someone is master of the spoken word, does not qualify him to be extraordinary in all aspects of life. It's measure for measure. We are measured by emotional as well as intellectual intelligence. I have seen doctors jailed for having the emotions of an infant and actual geniuses jailed for high crimes a lesser intellect would know not to commit.
-
That would suck eggs.

Some of the dumbest people I've ever met have a high IQ. IQ is merely a measure of how well you take a test, that is: how well you parrot back information that has been fed to you. It says nothing about how well you research new information, how well you critically evaluate information,or how much common sense you have. All it says is that you take tests very well. I would argue that often the people of "average" intelligence are actually smarter than those with a high IQ, because they have a more balanced intellect. They haven't developed their ability to take tests to the exclusion of developing their ability to evaluate information, dance, play sports, rebuild a carbuerator, drive a tractor, clean a house, sew, or many other useful skills. So no, I wouldn't want to listen only to those who are really good at regurgitating the research of others.
-
No - because those of you who think you know everything are truly annoying to those of us who really do ......(joke!)
-
No. Critics claim that IQ tests do not measure intelligence, but rather a specific skill set valued by those who create (those or that particular) IQ test(s). I don't place much credence in IQ tests, others will defend the "merits" with vitriolic fanaticism. I, respectfully, agree to disagree. Now where's my pet rock... ;)
-
That would be ridiculous discrimination. IQ is a limited measure of possible potential intelligence and not a marker of actual all around intelligence. Selecting people for an online forum based on that would be akin to racism, ageism, and sexism. Plus, because of the attitudes of some high IQ individuals , Answerbag may have more of a dramatic atmosphere similar to a drag queen fashion show if it were limited to only those with high IQ.(no offense to drag queens). This is assuming 'high IQ' is based on present measurement standards. And that in itself is limited just like all standardized tests. humans cannot just simply be measured and collated like that.
