Jeff Gordon has the highest career winnings: $54,833,889. Second after Gordon is the late Dale Earnhardt, who won $41,742,384. Third is Dale Jarrett: $40,111,037. Note that these figures represent prize money only, which is a matter of public record. NASCAR drivers, like other sports celebrities, also have other sources of income (autographs, merchandising, endorsements) but those figures are kept private. "But what about Richard Petty?" you may ask. Well, King Richard did win more races than anybody else, but he won most of them before RJ Reynolds took over the sponsorship of NASCAR, when the purses weren't so lucrative. He did, however, become the first driver to win a over one million dollars. His career winnings are $7,755,409.
