What do you get out of coming to AB? Why did you join, when you did?

Personally, (I know some of you are going to say, Duh! I can see why!) I don't have many friends in my life, as sad as that may seem to some of you... and I really enjoy asking and answering questions for everyone here. I feel I get to have conversations that I might not normally have and get to know people I might not normally meet. I enjoy the personal connection.

It looked like a real interesting site. I mean I have always wanted to be one of those advice people in the magazines that answer peoples questions and this was just like it! You get loads out of answerbag - Those questions that constantly get on your nerves can be answered within minutes and you can answer questions on topics that interest you. Just... magic!

I joined for the sake of distracting myself, and perhaps out of some hope of finding people I could identify with. And I got a lot more than I originally bargained for.

I enjoy coming to AB. I find the answers that people provide so interesting. And, most of the questions are so honest -- no filters, no covers. AB, also, allows me to see what younger people are thinking and talking about without them becoming uncomfortable because I have a cane and because I'm clergy, so I can't hear the real person. The layers that younger people put up to protect themselves from what they think is God's and my judgement is astounding and so tedious and unneccessary. Further, being mostly disabled and in chronic pain, AB is a great distraction for me. AB lets me forget the pain and engage in some semi-academic pursuits. Finally, a friend had a link to a question about religion that he wanted me to see and while looking around I decided to join.

I joined because I searched MP3 troubleshooting on the net, because my player wouldn't work.(I got a new one in the end) I answered a few questions in the process, and kept coming back. It's a fun site to help people on.

Because in real life no one ever asks me a damn thing. They all tend to think life's an interview and they're the one who should get all the questions.

My friend was talking about how much she loved it and convinced me to check it out.

Last fall I was searching online for remedies for a dental condition called dry socket. One of the links that came up was from an AB question. It turned out to contain exactly the info I needed from some very helpful people! After I used the home remedy described on AB I wanted to add my opinion so I signed up and started AB-ing.
