    Laws concerning defensive driving courses vary from state to state.

    For example, Florida law states that you may not attend traffic school if you have attended in the preceding 12 months, and you can take the class no more than five times in a 10-year period.

    Texas state law allows you to dismiss one traffic ticket every 12 months by taking a TEA-approved driving safety course.
