Get a good book on goats is my best advice. If you are young enough or have children join FFA or 4H if your local one has a goat group.

They will climb that fence in under a minute. Chain link will not work with goats.

The chain link fence isn't going to work, sweetie. Remember, goats are climbers. Any fence you put up is going to have to be at least 4 feet tall, with barbed wired strung tightly across the top. An electic fence would be ideal. +5

Boer goats are a lot of fun! If you are breeding a word of advise, the males can be VERY aggressive!! If it is for pets, I would suggest banding any males, they make for a better pet.

These guys can climb! chainlink?? I wouldn't use. They can get their hooves caught and be injured.

They can do well in a small enclosure, but they need lots and lots to eat! Goats don't eat grass, they prefer weeds, small brush and trees. If you have trees you can kiss them good bye. They also need a special salt lick.

They do get rather large, because they are a meat goat. Like I said the males are pretty aggressive. Females are much tamer but when they come into heat they NEVER SHUT UP!

Goats may seem like an easy thing to raise, but they are not, unless you have a true love for the animal, and lots of education about them and their needs. I would do a bit of research first and make sure this is the breed you want. The chain link is a bad idea. IMO.

I loved my goats, they were my pals. They could be a down right pain in the old butt, Literally!! I was knocked around quite a bit by my male..LOL

Good luck, and please do some reasearch before you commit to this. They are a great animal, but you really have to know your stuff.
