  • Going to get old waiting Mensan. Its the myth of the uncontrollable penis again.+5
  • I don't think it's a matter of being raped........its me accidently leaning on the ICBM button while looking at her in those fabulous Navy jeans.....
  • I would say whomever made that argument lost. If men can't resist raping a woman, they don't belong in the Navy, let alone among the more elite submariners. Discipline is a requirement.
  • That's a pretty ridiculous argument, given that rape is "possible" literally anywhere [EDIT: actually, even gender segregation wouldn't make a difference, since men can rape men, and women can rape women]. A submarine, an office, even right on the sidewalk...it COULD happen anywhere. If a woman was to live constantly fearing this remote possibility, she'd have to live alone in a bunker.
  • I don't think it has anything to do with rape. It is a left over notion that women are bad luck on a ship. And submariners are the "clickiest" navel cadre there is. They will be the last to change. Please, I am not defending the notion, but I think that is what it is. The space program, being more discretionary as a budget item, serves a sefish interest by being more progressive regarding race and gender.
