Will class 2 body armor with the insert plate stop multiple 7.62mm hits? is the extra weight worth it?

You should know by now how I feel about this subject.....What do you think? I would like to hear your opinion:)

<edited for clarity> standard class 2 <non dragon skin> with plate will stop regular 7.62 but not AP. still, they need to hit the plate and not go into the side panels. side ambushes would be expected when driving. I know dragon skin will. It stops 7.62 AP even on side panels. It is more flexible and comfortable than standard armor. It's also 2 or 3 times more expensive, but then, death is cheap.

Fact from fiction, truth from diction. To me any armor is better than none. If you had the choice or a "SAW" you'd turn it down because it was not as light as a HK MP-5K? If I am going to be in a fight I want EVERY advantage I can have no matter how slight.
