Go on a sensible diet that also includes a daily exercise routine if you want to keep the weight off for good. Do not choose a fad or crash diet. A 2-3 pound a week maximum loss is the highest recommended loss if you want good and safe long term results. I would suggest Weight Watchers or Jenny Craig. Weight Watchers is cheaper because you buy your own food. It has been around for such a long time because it works, is healthy and if used as described, it is safe and good long term, even if you have health problems such as diabetes.

Briskly walk 4 miles 3 times a week (takes about an hour if you walk fast enough), eat well and drink LOTS of water.

If you cut out the most calorie heavy things in your diet and get more exercise that should do it. I've been fasting every other day to take control over my carnal nature (eating habits and lack of exercise things, like that) and I've lost 20 lbs since the new year. I eat less and when I do eat I don't like to waste the meals I have on junk food. It's worked really well so far. Of course I also pray and I think that helps to get through the fast days. If you aren't a Christian then the praying probably won't help. Good luck with your weight loss.

Stop being lazy, like take the extra time to walk to work, use the stairs, pick up your lawn/house, home improvements, typing out full words, using spell check, etc.

Why don't you take a look at what you eat and drink each day. If you drink a lot of colas, try cutting out as many a day as possible, switch to fruit juice and water. Also, how much sugar do you consume a day, if you say drink coffee with real sugar, cut out the real stuff and put in a substitute, like equal or splenda. Of course you need to eat sensibly and exercise, try walking 30 minutes and build up to the 4 miles or you could be really sore and not continue. This was just a thought that might help get you started. Good Luck.
