Do I have to leave the property that i am renting for the landlords to show it?

• It doesn't make potential buyers uncomfortable. It could make the owner uncomfortable that the tenant may answer questions.

• No, it made us very uncomfortable when we were house hunting. We didn't feel like we could speak freely about our dislikes & all of the stuff we'd have to do to improve it cause we were afraid it would upset the people living there if they overheard.

• I think you have hit the main point Thriftymaid. The sellers are afraid you might tell. I left a note in the breaker box for a future tenant and was able to talk to them later. When I asked if they had found the note, they went and looked and said, "He told me the A/C worked!"

• Your question stated tenants. It is best if the owner of a house is not present at a showing. However, when the house is rented the tenant has no interest in whether the property is sold or not -- in fact, in most cases they may point out negatives because when the property sells they may no longer be able to live there.

• Her question was talking about rental property. I admit my situation I was buying on contract for deed. But the guy I was buying from only sold on contract to get out of landlord responsibilities. He has many similar properties in the same area. And when I asked about A/C in November, he stated "It did last summer." But I talked to previous tenants to know that was a lie.
